about CSD (CAT SCRATCH Disease)
Cat Scratch Disease or CSD is a bacterial disease caused
by Bartonella Henselae (bacteria). It is transmitted to a human when an infected cat or
kitten bites or scratches them. If infected with the bacteria, visible symptoms include lymph nodes that become
very swollen after 1-3 weeks.
Bartonella Henselae bacteria was formerly known as Rochalimaea. Bartonella Henselae, is a member of the Bartonella Genus. When Bartonella Hanselae bacteria infects a human the condition is commonly known as Cat Scratch Disease or CSD. Fortunately, this disease is not deadly and in fact CSD rarely even needs an antibiotic!
